 CIDRF organized a Grant Writing Workshop on 26th April 2018 in the Library Hall, MGMCRI. The workshop objective was to promote awareness and educate SBVU faculty about the available extra-mural research funding. Prof. K.R.Sethuraman Vice-Chancellor, SBVU, inaugurated the workshop. Invited speakers from different institutes, including Prof.B.P.Mathur and Prof.Hannah Rachel Vasanthi from Pondicherry University, Dr.Medha from JIPMER elaborated on the tips for successful grant writing. From CIDRF Dr.C.Adithan-Director, Dr Jayamuruga Pandian– Principal Scientist, Dr.N.Mangaiyarkarasi– Senior Scientist, Dr.Agieshkumar– Senior Scientist and Dr Pooja Pratheesh-Scientist, delivered lectures on various aspects of grant writing including forging collaborations and tips for writing short term grants like travel grants and those for organizing CME and workshops. Participants were provided hands-on exercises on filling up applications forms of national funding agencies (ICMR, DBT, and DST) for research grants, workshops/CME. This has made them acquainted with the online application procedure. The workshop was attended by 45 faculty members from SBV constituent colleges from clinical and non-clinical departments. The workshop received positive feedback from the participants and many of them expressed willingness to apply for grants in the future.
