CIDRF organized a “National Hands-on Workshop on Real-Time PCR in Biomedical Research” from December 8-10, 2016 at CIDRF Dr.PoojaPratheesh, Scientist was the organizing secretary for the workshop. The workshop was limited to twenty participants and was attended in full strength. The salient points regarding the workshop are as follows:
Participants included clinicians, biomedical research faculty as well as doctoral
students from medical as well as research institutes in states all over India including
Delhi, Gujarat, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu among others.
The workshop had three components:
Invited guest lectures
Concept lectures by CIDRF faculty
Hands-on Real-Time PCR techniques for gene expression, gene quantification,
SNP analysis, and micro RNA expression
Renowned faculty from the Institute of national importance delivered invited talks
on three days of the workshop and included Dr Suresh Kumar Rayala from IIT-M.
Chennai delivered the inaugural talk on December 8 while Dr Ravi
NagalingamSundaresan from IISc, Bangalore delivered the keynote talk on
December 9. Dr VinodScaria from CSIR-IGIB, New Delhi gave the valedictory talk on
Pharmacogenomics on December 10.
The participants and CIDRF faculty enjoyed an informal get-together followed by
dinner at the Club Mahindra Beach Resort on the evening of December 9, 2016.
The workshop was given thumbs-up by all the participants unanimously for the
content and structure and they have request CIDRF to conduct more of such
workshops.
