Research is an integral part of the mission of Indira Gandhi Institute of dental sciences and considerable emphasis is placed on research activities. Research and other scholarly pursuits are essential activities for all faculty and students of the IGIDS. This research may be in the form of faculty research projects, postgraduate dissertation work, Ph.D. thesis work, and undergraduate research projects. Quality of the research projects is ensured by the Internal review board and the Institutional ethical committee. Postgraduate students are required to write a thesis/dissertation and thus gain the first-hand experience of conducting research in the laboratories. The institute consciously directs its research activities to the relative needs of the society and a lot of community studies has been planned and conducted.
