 
As per guidelines issued by Indian Nursing Council, the International Yoga Day 2019 was celebrated at Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry. International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June every year to raise global awareness about the benefits of practicing Yoga. As a prelude to this event, Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth is contributing in towards adopting an International Yoga Day with the aim of enhancing the habit of yoga practices among young adults.
In Commemoration of International Yoga Day-2019, Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College organized a programme and motivated the students to participate in various programmes in association with Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education and Research (CYTER), Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth in a grand manner from 13.06.2019 to 21.06.2019 in and around Puducherry to create awareness on Yoga and its benefits.
B.Sc (N) II year students (25 Nos) participated in National Seminar cum Workshop on 14.06.19 Divyanga Yoga: Yogic approach to special needs at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth in association with CYTER, Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, ICYER, Samagra Shiksha, Satya Special School, Indian Yoga Association & Pondicherry Yogasana Association to commemorate International Yoga fest at Bapuji Central Library, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Subhash Chandra Parija inaugurated the program to develop the knowledge on Divayanga Yoga.
B.Sc(N) I, II and III Year students were participated in Regional Level Yogasana Competition on for 20.06.2019 students of Health Professions Educational Institutions of Pondicherry which was jointly organized by Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education and Research (CYTER), in association with Pondicherry Yogasana Association. 200 students from various colleges were participated, among them, students of Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College won prizes in all categories as follows:
Under age 20 (Male) Category: Mr.Anandha Narayanan. (B.Sc(N) II year ) won First Prize.
Under age 20 (Female) Category: Ms.Anbukarasi B.Sc(N) I Year won second Prize.
Under age 25 (Male) Category: Mr.Premkumar.V (B.Sc(N) III Year) won First Prize
Under age 25 (Male) Category: Mr.Ravirajan.V (B.Sc(N) III Year) won third Prize
Under age 25 (Female) Category: Ms.Vivitha.N B.Sc(N) III Year won first Prize, Ms.Nandhini.R B.SC(N) III year won the second prize.
Our Institution has organized Quiz competition on 20.06.2019 on Yoga protocol among Under Graduate students at Sushrutha Hall, First Floor, Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College Puducherry.
16 students had participated and they were divided into five groups namely Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, Bandha & Mudra. Quiz competition consisted of 5 rounds which include Introductory Round, MCQ Round, Visual Round, Jumbled Letters, connection Round, and Rapid Fire Round. Group 1 won first prize in this competition. All Students have participated enthusiastically.
B.Sc(N) I Year students were participated in Mass Yoga Demonstration at the Promenade of Pondicherry beach on 20.06.2019 along with other programs in association with the Tourism Dept, Govt. of Puducherry. The students have demonstrated various Asanas, Kriyas, Pranayamas & Mudras and created awareness on Yoga among the general public. The demonstration came to an end at 9.30 am.
