As a part of International Nurses Day Celebration 2018, Department of Nursing, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College Research Institute Hospital and Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College together celebrated The International Nurses Day 2018 owning its theme as Nurses: A Voice To Lead – Health Is Human Rights. The programme was lighted at 5 pm on 16th may 2018 involving all the Nurses from the SBV. Prof. Sethuraman, Vice-Chancellor, SBV, Prof.Ravishankar, Dean, MGMCRI, Dr Nirmal Coummar, Medical Superintendent, MGMCRI Dr Renuka k, Principal, KGNC and Mrs Kripa Angeline, Nursing Superintendent presided over the function. During the occasion the Mrs Asmath Ali Kahan former Nursing Superintendent was honoured for the Best Nursing Leader and Dr Renuka K, Principal of KGNC was honoured for receiving Best Nurse Administrator Award from the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai. Also, the Best Faculty was awarded to Mrs Elavarasi Asst Professor, KGNC followed by the Best Ward Nurses from the various department were awarded for their Excellency. The programme was a grand success with various surprises inspiring and motivating. Following inauguration ceremony, the cultural programme took over the stage and ending with a grand dinner.
In commemoration of International Nurses Day- 2018, KGNC organized an English Elocution competition on 18.05.18on the topic “Enriching Nurses Image” at I floor Lecture Hall, KGNC, Puducherry. Ten energetic participants from I and II years M.Sc. (N) students actively gave their participation in Elocution Competition. The winners were First Place – Mrs Priyalatha.D, M.Sc Nursing II year, Second Place – Ms Suganya. K, M.Sc Nursing II year, Third Place- Mrs Nadhini. D, M.Sc Nursing II year.
