OBJECTIVES

            A series of health education sessions in Tamil, in MGMCRI campus in Central Library Ground floor seminar hall, where the target audience are patients, caregivers, specific groups from the general public (school/college students, adolescent girls, AN/PN mothers…)

PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE

           To promote knowledge about common diseases and health conditions among the general population, patients & care-givers

FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE

1. To facilitate the conduct of the “Arogiyam Arivoam” series of public health education sessions

• The “Arogiyam Arivoam” sessions would be conducted fortnightly – every 2^nd and 4^th Thursday, 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm in the Central Library ground floor seminar hall
• Specific groups from the general public – such as school/college students, adolescents, antenatal and postnatal mothers, patients and caregivers, shall be the target audience of the sessions, depending on the topic
• Various departments from MGMCRI, IGIDS and KGNC shall create and deliver the content in Tamil. High quality, re-usable content (models, banners, pamphlets etc) would be created in Tamil
• Scheduling of the topics (as provided by departments), dates and the logistics of mobilizing appropriate audience shall be overseen by the PHEC
• Special sessions would also be conducted in the community as and when needed
• Commemoration of health days/events by various departments shall also be under the “PHEC” umbrella

2. To facilitate visits by school students to various facilities of our institution, for instance – the library, the anatomy museum etc

        3. To explore other means of enhancing the public perception of our institution – radio, television talk shows, community radio,                   health exhibitions and more
