ABOUT THE COURSE
DM Cardiology is a course under the faculty of Medicine. This course is offered at MGMCRI with an intake of one seat. The duration of the course is of 3 years. Cardiology is the medical specialty that deals with disorders in heart, particularly the human heart and diagnosis and treatment of Electrophysiology, coronary disease, valvular heart disease, artery diseases, congenital heart defects, heart failure, and cardiac electrophysiology. The course involves an advanced study of the intricacies of cardiothoracic surgery. Although the cardiovascular system is inextricably linked to blood, this course is relatively unconcerned with hematology and its diseases. This course’s curriculum covers latest advances in cardiology care, assessment of new interventional and medical heart failure therapies, review of the most frequent life-threatening afflictions that can be diagnosed using electrocardiography, commonly misdiagnosed ailments and specialization in treating heart diseases using catheterization. DM Cardiology course teaches animal studies, to illustrate treatment methodology and effects, effects of radiation on the human body, chronic symptoms and the impacts of radiation on the body, radiation safety for both patients and staff in nuclear medicine and administrative, biological and legal aspects of the medical use of radiation.

Eligibility
Candidates aspiring for admission to the course are required to fulfill the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Post-graduation (MD), completed from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any of the State Medical Councils.
- MD needs to have been completed in any of General Medicine and Cardiology.
- A minimum aggregate score of 55% (50% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the level of post-graduation.
- 1- year compulsory rotating internship.
- Preferably, a minimum of 12 months of professional experience, as most reputed institutes prefer candidates with work experience.
