SBV Model for Postgraduate Education

SBV forges ahead in Post Graduate medical education, with the incorporation of the Competency Based Learning and Training Model (CoBaLT) into our post graduate training programmes. It is responsible for setting up of high professional standards of learning and training and ensures training of postgraduates who, can function independently as specialists, researchers and teachers, in the Medical Fraternity, by the end of their course.

This academic model represents a progressive step by the university, with focused ideals towards achieving our Mission, Vision and goals to accommodate for the prevailing needs of our Nation.

The MD Anatomy course at MGMCRI has knowledgeable faculty supported by experienced paramedical personnel including a Medical Geneticist. They not only excel in academic training, but they also thrust ahead in research. All the present faculty are approved postgraduate teachers and have vast experience as research guides.

MD – DERMATOLOGY ,VENEREOLOGY & LEPROSY

The residents of MD in Dermatology, Venereology and leprosy receive training from experienced faculty and are exposed to a wide spectrum of disorders to gain tremendous expertise in the management of dermatological diseases and multisystem disease with skin problems. The training is comprehensive and robust; with an emphasis on holistic care.

 

MD – FORENSIC MEDICINE

The MD forensic medicine course deals with a curriculum that imparts medico-legal knowledge, with the purpose being to create specialists who would provide high quality health care and advance the cause of science through research & training. This programme is designed to strengthen Forensic Medicine teaching to benefit the judiciary and the legal system of the country and the community at large.

 

MD – GENERAL MEDICINE

The MD general medicine course conducted, focuses the postgraduate training mainly with hands-on practice, extensive journal club discussions, seminars, bedside clinics, daily rounds and research. The aim of the program is to develop the resident into an independent and ethical physician, serving the community.

 

MD – MICROBIOLOGY

The MD microbiology course at MGMCRI, trains residents to be competent as a clinical microbiologist, teaching them to interact effectively with the allied departments and render services in medical colleges, research institutes as well as in advanced laboratory services. They are exposed to a variety of clinical settings to solve diagnostic and therapeutic problems along with preventive measures. They are introduced to Hospital Infection Control and Laboratory Accreditation programs so that they can get involved in good patient care and prevention of infectious diseases.

 

MD – PAEDIATRICS

The MD Paediatric course at MGMCRI ensures the competencies pertaining to Paediatrics are acquired and practised at all levels of the health system, by the residents. Training focuses on Recognition of health needs of infants, children and adolescents and the skills for effective communication with the child, family and the community.

 

MD – PATHOLOGY

The MD pathology course trains the residents in handling and processing histopathology, clinical pathology, microbiology, biochemistry and transfusion medicine samples with a knowledge of general principles and methodology.
