Postgraduate Training
During the training, we assist participants to develop a broad understanding of fundamental principles, concepts, trends, and issues related to health professional education. Further, it would provide an opportunity to participants to understand, appreciate and acquire skills in teaching, evaluation, curriculum development, and implementation, maintenance of standards and accreditation of educational programs relevant to their discipline. At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the aims of health professional education, trends in health professional education and its impact on health care.
- Critically analyze the existing health professional education, problems, issues, and future trends.
- Critically analyze various teaching-learning principles and processes that apply to health professions.
- Discuss and evaluate the theoretical and empirical literature related to education for the health professionals
- Prepare and utilize various instructional media and methods in the teaching-learning process.
- Demonstrate competency in teaching and using various instructional strategies and innovations in implementing them.
- Describe the process of curriculum development, and the need and methodology of curriculum change, innovation, and integration.
- Describe the problems and issues related to the administration of curriculum including selection and organization of clinical experience in health professions.
- Explain the development of standards and accreditation process in health professional education programs.
- Identify research priorities in health professional education.
- Explain the concept, principles, steps, tools, and techniques of evaluation in health professions
- Construct, administer and evaluate various tools for assessment of knowledge, skill, and attitude among health professionals.
- apply the principles underlying the design, planning, implementation and evaluation plan
- Design, plan and implement a relevant course for health professionals based on current principles of learning and instruction
- Demonstrate the ability to provide scientifically based academic advice and help to teachers and curriculum committees
- Plan and carry out a project on some aspect of the T/L process which the candidate has identified a need
- Develop humanism, ethical values, professionalism and practice them.
- Develop and demonstrate the abilities of reflective, self-evaluative capacity
- Demonstrate an appreciation for lifelong learning -its goal, process, and experiences
