IGIDS- OUTREACH ACTIVITY FROM SOCIETY OF TOXICOLOGY (STOX) 2018

Department of Pedodontics and Public Health Dentistry, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, in collaboration with Central Inter-Disciplinary Research Facility (CIDRF), Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, organized children’s day program titled “Salt, Sugar and Contaminated water – Facts versus Fantasy” on 14th November 2018 at Thiyagi K. R. Subramaniya Padiyathchi Govt. School, Koravallimedu, Bahoor. Dr S. C. Parjia, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, inaugurated the program. Dr Balanehru, Director, CIDRF, felicitated the gathering. Various
competitions were held to educate the ill effects of unregulated salted snacks, increased consumption of sugary foods and drinks, and stressed the importance of drinking safe wholesome water. Drawing competition was held for the middle school children and quiz competition for high school children. Health education pamphlets were also distributed to them. Comprehensive oral health screening and health education camp was provided for all the school
children and teachers by a team of dentists from IGIDS. Dr S. C. Parjia distributed prizes to the school children participated in the drawing and quiz competition. In this program, around 400 school children participated and benefit from the program.
