Hon’ble LG of Puducherry inaugurates a Mega COVID 19 Vaccination camp at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute”

The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Government of Puducherry in association with District Rural Development Agency and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Pondicherry organized a mega free vaccination camp at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Pondicherry the constituent teaching units of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Deemed to be University, Pondicherry on 24th March 2021 between 10.00 am and 8.00 pm.

The mega vaccination drive was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan in the presence of Dr. T. Arun, Health Secretary, Dr. Mohan Kumar S, Director, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare services, Government of Puducherry, Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija, Vice Chancellor of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth and Dr. Prashanth Rajagopalan, Vice Chairman SBV and Director, MGM Health Care, Chennai.

Speaking on the occasion amidst the general public, students and faculty the Lt. Governor drew references to the global impact that the pandemic is creating and the immediate need to get vaccinated at the earliest. It is matter of great pride that India has been a leading manufacturer in COVID vaccines that is regarded as an economically, safe and efficacious remedy and wanted people of all strata to get vaccinated and strengthen the initiatives of the Central Government. It is noteworthy that India is able to vaccinate its citizens by utilizing indigenous vaccines.

Dr. Prashanth Rajagopalan, Vice Chairman, SBV and Director, MGM Health Care, Chennai presented a memento to the Lt. Governor. Earlier Prof. Nirmal Coumare, Medical Superintendent, MGMCRI accorded a warm welcome address.

Around 4000 people took the first dose of the vaccine during the mega vaccination camp.
