Under the aegis of the management of Shri Sathya Sai Medical College And Research Institute, Affiliated to Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, The Department of Paediatrics grandly celebrated World Breastfeeding Week from August, 1 to August, 7 2019. It was a commemoration week involving outreach pogrammes, student enrichment program, Faculty development program, guest lecture at Departmental, and Institutional level. The total number of beneficiaries who benefited from the weeks activities were 471 .It started with an inauguration in which senior faculty addressed patients and attenders on the importance of Breastfeeding. The theme of the year “Empower parents, enable breastfeeding” was discussed by eminent guest speaker Prof.Dr.Somasekaran. Postgraduates and CRRIs participated in several outreach programmes. Students, both undergraduates and Post graduates participated in poster competition and quizzes. The valedictory function was conducted on the last day reinforcing the importance of breastfeeding. All the prize winners and participants were awarded with certificates by the Dean and Medical Superintendent.
