 
The lamp lighting is an auspicious occasion in which formally recognizes the student’s entry into the nursing profession. Light is a symbol of knowledge and it removes ignorance. The lamp lighting ceremony for the IInd batch of BSc Nursing students of Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing was held on July 19th, 2021 at Lecture Hall- I, First floor, SSSMCRI
The procession started at 2.30 pm by the BSc (Nursing) I year students. The Program started with SBV Anthem followed by Professor, A.L. Mahalakshmi, vice Principal welcomed the gathering and honored the Chief Guest, Dr. Helen Shaji, Principal, SSSCON. The Dignitariesof the Dias Hon’ble Vice-chancellor Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija, Deputy Registrar Mr. Joseph Naresh, SBV University, Prof.Sukumaran Annamalai, Dean SSSMCRI, Dr. Sundararajan, Medical Superintendent, SSSMCRI & Hospital Lit, the traditional lamp(Kuthuvilakku). Dr.Helen Shaji, Principal at SSSCON, deliberated the Significance of lamp lighting in the Nursing profession.
The students were led into the Profession with their lamp Presented by Dr.T.Sujatha, Professor Department of Community Health Nursing, and Prof.A.L.Mahalakshmi, Vice-principal, SSSCON. Oath Administered by Dr.HelenShaji, Principal.
The song dedicated to Florence Nightingale was Sung by SSSCON faculty and I year BSc (Nursing) Students.  Dr.Sukumaran Annamalai, Dean, at SSSMCRI, felicitated the students followed by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SBV University  Prof Subhash Chandra Parija, given a Keynote address.
Vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. S. Mahalakshmi, Professor, SSSCON.  The ceremony came to an end at 3.30 pm with the national anthem followed by high tea.
