AWARENESS ON WOMEN AND CHILD ABUSE
Every child has the right to live free from violence, exploitation and abuse. Violence against children knows no boundaries. It happens in every country, and in the places children should be most protected – their homes, schools and online. It can be physical, emotional or sexual. And in most cases, children experience violence at the hands of the people they trust. Women are also vulnerable to abuse. Awareness programs on women and child abuse by the chairperson of Child Welfare committee, Pondicherry was beneficial for all stakeholders.
STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME /Â INSTITUTIONAL
Scientific and Academic Forum, IGIDS conducted a Pep Talk on Friday, Feb 21st, 2020, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Hall, Ground floor, Bapuji Central Library, SBV at 2:30pm – 3:30pm . The resource person was Dr. Vidya Ramkumar, Chair Person, District Local-level Complaints Committee, Sexual harassment at workplace for Women, Govt of Puducherry The program started with a brief inaugural ceremony. Prof Saravana Kumar, Principal IGIDS, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Speaker. Followed by the speaker delivering a lecture on “Crimes against women and children”. Queries related to the topic were cleared by the speaker and further advice/awareness regarding the same was created.
CONSTITUTION DAY
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, is celebrated in India on zs” November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26th January 1950.The Government of India declared ze” November as Constitution Day on is” November 2015 by a gazette notification.
KGNC has organized a Seminar on Understanding the Indian constitution and Human Rights on 31st January 2020 in Muthulakhmi Reddi Hall, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry. Prof. Sumathy P, Vice Principal, had introduced the Guest Speaker Dr. B. Mohandoss, Advocate, Labour & Service Laws Consultant, Puducherry highlighting & the awards and recognitions. The Speaker had deliberated on Salient Features of the Indian Constitution – Awareness for Adolescents followed, by Human Rights Protection & The Constitution of India – A Review. He had correlated the Constitution and laws with medicine during his presentation. He had also highlighted the human rights protection for the citizens of India. There were 420 participants in the seminar which includes Faculty Member, UG and PG students.
