A one day pre-conference workshop “Laboratory Animal Experimentation for Researcher” was organized on 28th November, 2018 by Centre for Animal Research Training and Services (CAReTS), Central Inter-Disciplinary Research Facility (CIDRF) under Nipuna – Biomedical Research skill development program, DBT, New Delhi sponsored program, hosted by Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) as a part of the International conference on “The Role of toxicology in public Health” pre-conference module.
Morning session was followed as Talk 1 by Dr. Balanehru Subramanian, Director, CIDRF & Organizing Secretary, STOX2018 on Designing an animal experimental study: Animal ethics & regulatory requirements; Talk 2 by Dr. Hannah Rachel Vasanthi, Dept of Biotechnology, Pondicherry University, Puducherry on Designing an animal experimental study: Animal ethics & regulatory requirements; Talk 3 by Dr. P. Tamilmaran. CAReTS, CIDRF, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry on Sample collection and preservation: Garbage in-Garbage out; Talk 4 Dr. C. Raj Kumar. CAReTS, CIDRF, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry on “Animal Alternatives in Biomedical Research”.
The afternoon session was followed as Talk 5 Dr. G. Ezhumalai, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry on Animal experimental data analysis; Talk 6 Dr. K. Rajkumar, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, Puducherry, on Evolution of lab animals in biomedical research: Use and Limitations. The sessions ended with feedback from the participants and the resource persons were felicitated by Dr. S. Muthukumar, CAReTS, CIDRF, Puducherry and co-coordinator of the workshop
A total of 57 participants have enrolled in the workshop from various disciplines from different institutes including faculties, post-graduate and undergraduate students. The workshop received participants from a different part of the country such as Indira Gandhi College of Arts and Science, Puducherry; St Joseph Arts and Science Colleges, Cuddalore; JIPMER, Puducherry; Annamalai University, Chidambaram; NTR College of Veterinary Sciences, Andhra Pradesh; SRM Deemed University, Chennai.]]>
