National advanced hands-on workshop on real-time PCR and HPLC techniques in biomedical research

CIDRF organized a three days “5th National Advanced Hands-on Workshop on Real-Time PCR and HPLC techniques in Biomedical Research” from October 29-31, 2018. Dr. Anitha T.S was the Organizing Secretary and Dr.Aarthi M was the treasurer for this event. The workshop had received an overwhelming response from states all over India. A total of 24 participants have registered from reputed institutions like PGIMER-Chandigarh, KEM Hospital-Mumbai, AIIMS Bhopal, JIPMER-Puducherry, Narayana Medical College-Andhra Pradesh including faculties from SBV (SSSMCR, MGMCRI, and IGIDS). The workshop included hands-on training on all aspects of Real-Time PCR and HPLC like DNA and RNA extraction, Conventional PCR, Gene quantification, absolute (miRNA) and relative expression (gene), SNP genotyping and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Services. The workshop was inaugurated by our esteemed Vice Chancellor Prof.S.C.Parija with a Keynote Lecture delivered by Prof. V.R. Muthukkaruppan, Advisor-Research, Aravind Medical Research Foundation (AMRF), Madurai on “Stems cells and their applications in regenerative medicine”. The keynote lecture was attended by most of the people from MGMCRI as well as CIDRF faculties and students. The workshop was supported by Veda Scientifics (Villupuram), National Scientific Suppliers (Puducherry) and Biocorporals (Puducherry). The workshop was well-organized with our CIDRF faculties as Resource persons (Dr.AJ.Pandian, Dr.Agiesh Kumar B, Dr.Mangaiyarkarasi N, Dr.PoojaPratheesh, Dr. Anitha T.S, Dr.Aarthi M). The workshop also included special lectures before the start of each session which was delivered by Dr.ArunKumarDhayalan-Pondicherry University on Real-Time PCR and Prof.Adithan C-Dean Research, SBV on the Applications of HPLC. The participants were provided with a registration kit, manual, breakfast, and lunch for all the three days. Towards the end of the function, Dr.Mangaiyarkarasi N-Senior Scientist, CIDRF and Dr.A.J.Pandian-Deputy Director, CIDRF had a small interaction with the participants and received glowing feedback from the participants asking for further workshops from CIDRF.
