Profile Summary

Dr. Agieshkumar has more than 15 years of experience in vector borne disease research. During his doctoral work he was involved in exploring the molecular basis of vector-parasite interactions. During his first postdoctoral training at Texas Tech University (USA) he studied the role of sphingolipids in the virulence of Leishmaniasis. His second stint of postdoctoral training at the Dept of cellular biology, University of Georgia (USA) gained him training on RNA interference mediated gene silencing in vectors. His expertise includes Molecular cloning, microinjection and homologous recombination methods. He started his career as Assistant professor in the School of Chemical and Biotechnology (SCBT), SASTRA University (Deemed), India. There apart from teaching to B.Tech, M.tech and M.Sc students in various areas of Biotechnology, he had mentored students for UG and PG dissertations, and PhD degree. He has received extramural funding from National agencies; DBT, ICMR. He has published several high quality papers in peer reviewed Journals including Plos NTDs, Plos One, IUBMB life, JCV, IJID, Green chemistry etc.,. Dr. Agiesh joined CIDRF in 2015 and is currently researching on “Lipids in the pathogenesis of dengue virulence& biomarker identification for early prediction of severe dengue”. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Entomology, UK (2019).

USA/India based research experience in translational medicine, biotechnology, proteomics, genomics, cell culture, toxicology, therapeutic assessment, animal testing.

She had co-authored 7 publications in peer reviewed international journals with cumulative Impact factor of 21.11 and total citation index of 364.
 
Her research work is on the scientific validation of Terminalia arjuna for osteoporosis using mesenchymal stem cells, ovariectomized animal model, High Sucrose High fat Diet induced mice model.
 
She is currently guiding a Ph.D student.

Dr. Raj Kumar, C. obtained his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore for his work on the role of aryl acylamidase activity of acetylcholinesterase in bone cell mineralization and differentiation. After his graduation, he worked as a senior research fellow for one year in the Department of Clinical Immunology, JIPMER, Puducherry on the immuno- pheno and genotyping of psychiatric patient samples. Later, he joined CAReTS as a research associate to work on in-vitro toxicology related studies. He has published various researched articles in reputed sci-indexed journals published by Elseiver, Springer, Wiley and American Society of Microbiology
