SBV - Sensitisation Programme on Gender Awareness

The Women Cell at SBV organized various events in commemoration of international women’s day which falls on 8th March of every year. Famous orators and public speakers, Smt. Barathi Baskar and Shri. Raja participated in an interactive session on “Pledge for Parity” Organized by the Women Cell of SBV on 5th March 2016. Shri. Raja in the speech mentioned that women’s empowerment in the past 50 years is encouraging in India. Smt. Bharathi Baskar in her address praised SBV for the feedback imitative from the girl students regarding their safety on the campus. While mentioning the sex ratio in Pondicherry, in which the women outrank the men, shows the safety of women in the territory. She also added that the women’s day celebrations should continue till the discrimination against the female gender is eradicated.

International Women’s Day 2015

All around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.  Make it happen is the theme for 2015.  It signifies encouraging effective action for advancing and recognizing all women.

Women’s cell of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (We@SBV) Commemorated the International Women’s day on 7th March 2015. An Awareness Rally was organized from Anna Stadium, Cuddalore to Pudupalayam, Cuddalore. Program started with an invocation by Mrs. R. Bhuvaneswari, Tutor and Mrs. Kala Varathan, Student, Dept Of Music Therapy. Mrs. Rajeswari, Asso.Prof. of Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College welcomed the gathering. Ms. Lakshya introduced all the guest invitees. Dr.D.Sharmila, District Revenue Officer, Cuddalore  was the chief guest. She spoke on women’s health and violence against women. Prof. Jayanthi Ravichandran, Head of English department, St.Joseph’s College of Arts and Science, Cuddalore addressed the gathering regarding Women’s empowerment and female infanticide.  Ms.Bhuvaneshwari, Social Welfare Officer felicitated the gathering. She placed a request that MGMCRI should take steps to create an awareness among public regarding female infanticide. Her speech was followed by Mr.Ramamurthy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cuddalore. He spoke about more suicidal rate among females.

Dr.Ravichandran.S, Deputy Director, MGMCRI   addressed the gathering. He insisted that all females above 35 years should undergo screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer. He requested all government officials should give permission for Medical, Dental and Nursing College for conducting camps. He assured that MGMCRI will not involve in any criminal offences (female infanticide/revealing sex of fetus). All guest invitees were honored with memento by Mrs. Asha SureshBabu, PS to Chairman, Convener of Women’s Cell. Finally the vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Bindhu, Asso.Prof, IGIDS. All faculty members, Principal from IGIDS, Principal from KGNC, Deputy Registrars, Nursing Superintendent and Management staff from SBV participated.

Followed by this an awareness rally was inaugurated by all guest invitees. It started from Anna stadium proceeded through the main streets of Cuddalore and finally ended up at, Pudupalayam in Cuddalore. All the constituent college students participated and held Placards based on the various aspects pertaining to women’s welfare. Awareness Pamphlets were issued by the Mrs. Sudharshana, PRO, MGMCRI to the public.

Apart from this major event at cuddalore, MGMCRI had organized a camp at the city center of MGMCRI in association with Indian Bank, Pondicherry. More than 110 women attended the free health checkup camp.
