International Women’s Day Celebration - 2016

In commemoration of International women’s day, WE @ SBV celebrated with the theme of “Pledge for Parity”. On 1st March 2016, women cell organized a Collage Competition on the theme “Women Friendly Campus” for students of constituent colleges of SBV. 32 teams participated and it was evaluated by Prof. N, Ananthakrishnan, Dean (Research & Allied Health Sciences), SBV, Prof. Ambujam, Dept. of Dermatology and Mrs. Moon Nandhi and four prizes were bagged by the students. on 5th March 2016, we @ SBV organized the special programme. The programme started by 11.00 a.m. with invocation song by Ms. Bhuvaneswari and Ms. Kala Varathan, Dept. of Music Therapy. Prof. Usha Carounanidy, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, IGIDS welcomed the gathering and introduced briefly about the women cell of SBV. Prof N. Ananthakrishnan, Dean (Research & Allied Health Sciences), SBV, felicitated the gathering. He proudly mentioned about the women leaders of SBV. Prof. K. R. Sethuraman, Vice – Chancellor, SBV, addressed the gathering, he mentioned that International Women’s Day Celebration not to be celebrated if women are empowered or otherwise men’s day should be celebrated. He proudly informed that SBV is women friendly campus. Prof V. N. Mahalakshmi, Vice – Principal, MGMCRI introduced the guest speakers, emphasizing their achievements in their career. Mr. S. Raja, B.Com., MA., pattimantra speaker, Moderator, TV Anchor enthralled the audience with his humorous speech. He stated that women in India occupy higher positions.

He mentioned that men are the back bone of women’s achievement. He also wished all women should come forward and all better half should support them. Mrs. Bharathy Baskar, B. Tech., MBA, (public Speaker, W Anchor) with her pompous speech brought forth that in India women are more educated than men, but this academic dominance is not yet transformed in to planned and social dominance. She also highlighted that every women should be educated enough to bring out intellectual upcoming generation. She quoted about eminent women personalities who are considered to be the bench mark of our nation. Prof. M. Ravishankar, Dean, MGMCRI announced the Life time achievement award. They were Mrs. Amir Alikhan Asmath, Nursing Superintendent, MGMCRI and Ms. Chithra Shah, Social Worker and Director of Sathya Special School for Children, Puducherry. Prizes were distributed to the collage winners. Vote of thanks was rendered by Prof. Renuka. K, Dean, Faculty of Nursing.
