International Women's Day-2018

SBV Women’s Cell (WE @ SBV) commemorated the International Women’s Day by organising Self Defence Training program for students on 16.03.18 at First floor lecture Hall,KGNC. Program was started with welcome specch.addrcseJ by Mrs.Elavarasi.R, Asst.Prof, SSCoordinator,KGNC. Dr.Renuka,Principal,unfolded the theme International Women ‘s Day 20 I 8 “Press For Progress” and gave speech on “Self Defence and Its Importance” among girls. Our Special invitee Mrs.Hemamalini,Women Police demonstrated karate techniques to the Nursing students to protect themselves. She gave a motivational speech on women ‘s welfare and importance of self defence among adolescent girls.She inspired our students by narrating her own experience and acheivements.Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs,Rajeswari Assa.Prof. Women cell coordinator. tudents given feedback that this program was very useful and gave confidence to them to fight against violence /abuse. Also considering the welfare of adolescent girls during mensturation;Women cell or KGNC had purchased Sanitary Napkin Dispenser,where girls can get the napkin with just by dropping Rs.5 Coin. and the napkin is dispensed. Sanitary Napkin Dispen er was inaugurated by Dr.Renuka K. Principal and Mrs.S.Rajeswari. Women cell Coordinator on the same day.

SBV - WOMEN'S CELL(WE@ SBV) - Orientation Programme

Gender sensitivity and equity is the modification of behaviour by raising awareness of gender equality concerns. SBV-Women’s Cell, SBV organised orientation programme to the newly joined students. Mrs.Rajeswari 5, Member – women cell, SBV addressed the First year UG and PG students on 28.9.2018 between 08.30am9.30am regarding a range of problems such as citizenship and rights, countering sexual harassment and issues of equality and freedom, questions of sexuality, norms of masculinity and feminity, and the understanding and respect towards all who contribute to the diverse and heterogeneous composition of college and university campuses. She emphasized about women safety at SBV campus and given information regarding gender sensitivity, web portal and complaint box for posting the complaints and grievance regarding gender issues in the campus. She explained about benefit of sanitary dispenser and destroyer which is located at Female rest rooms. Total beneficiaries around 95

"Legal Rights for Woman" 13th December 2018

As per the directives from the ‘Nation Commission of Women An Awareness’ a guest lecture on “Rights for Woman” was organized by Scientific Academic Forum, Women’s cell and IQAC,IGIDS on 13.12.2018 (Afternoon). The resource person was Mrs.Reena lswarya, Advocate, Pondicherry High Court and the session highlighted the problems faced by women, through various stages of life, laws that protect women from domestic violence, POSCO act and maternity benefits. After the lecture, quiz with questionnaire was conducted and prizes were awarded to the winners. Around 40 participants inclusive of women faculties, students, staff nurses and attenders participated in this programme .
