The CDE program, Clinical Oral Medicine and Radiology Evince (CORE), was organized and conducted by Department of Oral medicine and Radiology, IGIDS, SBV, on 17th October 2016. The program was aimed at enlightening the CRRI about the importance of Oral Medicine in clinical practice and the postgraduates and Entrepreneurs in learning the nuances of successful Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology practice. Thus the topics listed for presentations were ‘Do’s and Dont’s of a successful Oral Medicine Practice” & “Entrepreneurship in Maxillofacial Radiology”.
The program was attended by 120 registrants including faculty, private practitioners, postgraduates and CRRI from various dental institutions of Pondicherry and Tamilnadu. Notably present was Dr Thiruneeravannan, the Dean, Vinayaka Mission Dental College and faculty from Meenakshiammal Dental College and Raja Muthaiah Dental College, Tamilnadu.
The program commenced at 9 AM with a prayer song followed by Welcome address by Dr. Vishwanath Rangdhol, Professor and Head, Department of Oral medicine and Radiology, IGIDS. To symbolize elimination of ignorance and bringing upon wisdom, kuthuvillaku was lit followed by a felicitation speech Dr. Saravana Kumar, Vice Principal, IGIDS. The inauguration was concluded by a vote of Thanks from Dr Vandana P followed by college anthem and high tea.
The first scientific session started with Dr Srinivas K, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Orissa. Dr Srinivas being a successful Oral Medicine Practitioner delivered an highly informative and enlightening lecture on Do’s and Dont’s of a successful oral medicine practice. The highlight of the presentation was the management of patients with immunomodulators in indicated and refractory cases.
A poster competition was also conducted during CORE 2016. A total of ten posters in undergraduate and post graduate categories were displayed and judged by the guest speakers. Two prizes separately for UG and PG categories were adjudicated.
The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Vinod Kumar AR, Proprietor and Chief Radiologist, 3D Digital Diagnostic Dental Centre, Bangalore. He presented an insight on Entrepreneurship in maxillofacial radiology, speaking about the ways of setting up and running a successful radiology practice.
Post lunch, a rare case discussion session was conducted wherein the CRRI and Private practitioners were encouraged to interact with the guest speakers. The prizes for the poster competition and certificate of appreciation were the awarded to the winners and the delegates by the Guest speakers. The following were the prize winners.
