To commemorate Charles Darwin’s contributions to evolution, the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, celebrated Darwin’s week on 28th February 2019. The programme convened with the welcome address by Dr A. Santha Devy, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology and Oral Microbiology. The chief guest Dr S. Jayalakshmi, Associate professor, Centre for Advanced Study, Marine biology, Annamalai University, was felicitated with certificate and memento by Prof Saravana Kumar, Principal, IGIDS. The guest speaker delivered a lecture on ‘Human Development in Evolutionary part”. The core essence of the lecture focused on the Oral Microbiome and the relation of oral microbial flora relating to various systemic diseases. Around 60 undergraduates, postgraduate students and faculties participated and benefited from the program.
