Free Dental camp at Lawspet by students of IGIDS – September 2014

As a part of the batch day celebration on 15 Sep 2014 final year students of IGIDS conducted a free dental treatment camp at Narikuravargal Colony, Lawspet. The camp was organized in collaboration with the department of Public Health Dentistry. This camp was conducted to create awareness on oral health and to treat the people of Narikuravar Colony.

The students had taken the initiative to organize the camp by obtaining prior permissions from the village head along with all the preliminary preparations like cleaning the venue, setting up the camp site, informing the people etc.,

The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Kalyanasundaram, MLA and Mr. Vaithiyanathan, MLA at 09:30 am followed by screening the people. Scaling, extraction, restorations were done for the patients. Around 146 patients were treated in this camp and personal hygiene aids like soap and dress were distributed to the needy. Out of 146 patients 84 patients were females and remaining 62 were males. After the treatment oral hygiene aids kit consisting of tooth paste, tooth brush and mouth washes were given to the patients along with oral hygiene instructions.
