 
Project Pallandu is a unique venture from the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences[IGIDS[, a constituent institute of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry, established to attend to the dental needs of the inmates of all old age homes at Puducherry. With the support of the Rotary Club of Puducherry, Aurocity, the Department of Prosthodontics has been addressing the dental needs of individuals from such homes on a periodic basis.
On 28th October 2022, 18 elderly[males and females]from Ayush Old Age home were brought to the department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge of IGIDS, Dr. Manoharan P S, Head of Department, along with the team of 20 faculty, postgraduates, interns and support staff and technicians carried out surgical, restorative preventive and prosthetic procedures. All the patients were treated on the same day. Follow-up was done on the next day for checking the status of the post-operative wound and denture adjustments. All the patients were satisfied. Replacement of multiple missing teeth will be carried out in the subsequent week owing to the complexity of the case. The Department would continue its services to other Old Age Homes in a Phasic manner with an aim to provide complete oral care to the elderly.
