Dr. P. S. Manoharan MDS, PGDHPE, [Phd] Professor and Head of the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, did his under graduation [1997] and post-graduation [2002] from the Government Dental College, affiliated to Puducherry University. 

 

Research and Teaching Experience for undergraduate and post graduate students.
Guided research for 27 post graduate students in the position of guide /coguide. Recognition for the best randomised controlled clinical trial [at national level  one among three selected]for a post graduate research under my guidance by the Indian Prosthodontic Society. Undergraduate ICMR funded project -1. Obtained Intra Mural grant of 5 Lakhhs INR from the university.

Ph D research on competency curriculum for dental undergraduate students - development of a unique training module for interns.

Special interest in wellbeing of geriatric individuals. Project Director of Project Pallandu an unique initiative to address oral health needs of elderly living in old age homes. Been running programmes systematically with need assessment followed by comprehensive oral rehabilitation.

In education, I believe in bridging the gap between theory and practice. It is very important for the educationists.

I am currently working on the core area of interest, Health Profession’s Education and Implants. Teaching is my passion and received “Best teacher award” at Festin O Beatz, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, 2012. Sri Balaji VidyapeethUniversity commended the services rendered to the institution by me on the occasion of Independence Day, August 2009.

Dr. Rajkumar E, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences has completed his Masters from Ragas Dental College and Hospital, Chennai affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Tamilnadu and Under Graduation from Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences, Bangalore affiliated to Bangalore University, Karnataka. His prime interest in Implantology, lead him attending few specialised programs such as Nobel PG Implant Program from Nobel Biocare Institute, Sweden and series of CDE program on Implantology from University of Manitoba. He also holds a Fellowship in Implantology from Branemark Osseointegration Centre, Sweden and fellowship in implantology from International Congress Oral Implantology, US. During his academic tenure he has authored 4 textbooks, 13 research publications, four patents and six copyrights. 

Area Of Interest: Implantology, Maxillofacial Prosthesis, Full Mouth Rehabilitation, Delivering Quality teaching for under graduates and post graduates in both Preclinical and Clinical aspects.

Prof. Shivasakthy Manivasakan, Professor of Prosthodontics, Coordinator of Dental Education Unit, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, and Deputy Director of Centre for Health Professions Education, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry. Her contribution towards the identification and support of Students Needing Additional Curricular Support is awarded and recognized internationally in the field of education. She is a key contributor towards the conversion of all non-regulatory programs of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth to adapt to the Choice Based Credit System. Currently, she is guiding 8 PhD candidates and also coordinating the SBV SCULPT "SCholastic Updates Linked Professional Training" program for School and college teachers.  She has one granted patent, two published patents, one patent filed and 26 copyrights granted to her credit. She is the editor of Journal of Scientific Dentistry and board of studies member for several programs at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. She is the founder member and Vice-President of Association of Indian Dental Educators (AIDE) and Founder member of Healthcare Intellectual Property Rights Association (HIPRA). She has conducted several workshops on educational science and technology for medical and dental academicians at International and National level. She is also a resource person for several training programs on Intellectual Property Rights and has guided registration of more than 50 patents.

 

She is the recipient of several academic awards and recognition, to mention a few - “Shri Gurucharan Das Endowment Medal” for Best PhD Scholar, “Global faculty award” by AKS education awards in recognition of her extraordinary multidisciplinary teaching acumen, “Best teacher award 2020” by Institute of Scholars in recognition of valuable contribution to academic community and the students, “Eminent teacher award 2020” conferred on Teachers day commemoration 2020 for being a role model to the entire teaching fraternity at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. She is the Member of Faculty of Dentistry, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow (MFDS(RCPSG)).
