Patient care services

In accordance with the directives of the Government of India as per the National Health Policy 2002 to integrate complementary and alternative therapies into medical care in a phased and objective manner, Yoga Therapyand Music Therapy have been integrated as innovative integrative components in patient care since 2010. The University through ISCM focuses on factors influencing health and wellness in patients to empower them to heal themselves with the salutogenic principles of health adopted by the University.

ISCM is a unique institute harnessing the healing effects of yoga and music and integrates them as an adjuvant modality into routine patient care and has set high standards in a clinical environment. Both Yoga and Music Therapies are being offered through daily OPD consultations, individual & group sessions as well as consultations in all Master Health check-ups offered by our Hospital services and IP wards, Medicine, ICU, catheterization labs, ICU waiting area, operation theatres, and labor rooms on a daily basis and also on referrals from clinicians. It is functioning in the first floor of ‘I’ block at the SBV Campus

      • Complementary, adjuvant yoga and music therapy for various medical Conditions.
      • Yoga and music therapy through OPD, IPD, and Corporate Services Wing.
      • Services provided in ICU, catheterization labs, ICU waiting area, operation theatres, and labor rooms, other inpatient wards including the palliative medicine ward, etc.
      • References from Departments of Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, and General Medicine of MGMCRI.
      • Interdisciplinary value-added courses benefitting students and faculty.
      • PG certificate courses, PG Diploma, MSc, MPhil, and PhD programs in Yoga and Music therapy.
      • Yoga therapy incorporated into the UG nursing curriculum, and as electives in Allied Health Sciences Courses.
      • MEETS (Musically express your Emotions and Thoughts for Success) for first-year medical students with participatory Group Music therapy sessions.
      • Innovative “Yogabhyasa” program for all students of SBV who receive regular yoga practice sessions to foster a sense of wellness.
      • Standard Operating Procedure for Application of Yoga in Primary Health Care (Voyaging of Yoga Basics to Grass Roots – VYBGR with Department of Community Medicine.
      • More than 100,000 participants have been through the targeted individualized and small group (~ 40,000) & salutogenic (~ 60,000) general sessions.
