NEWBORN WEEK- CELEBRATION

ROLE PLAY ON ESSENTIAL NEWBORN CARE :

In commemoration of “Newborn week– 2018”, The Department Of Child Health Nursing organized a Roleplay  on Essentials of Newborn care on   15.11.2018 to create awareness for Postnatal Mothers at Pediatric OPD, MGMCRI coordinated by Prof. Rajeswari S. The Role Play was enacted by B.Sc Nursing III year students, and it was focused on Care of Newborn, Breast Feeding and its advantages, Thermoregulation, Immunization and Hygiene practices. 40 postnatal mothers in the postnatal ward were benefited. Questions were raised to the beneficiaries and they were appreciated with the prizes. At the end of the session, feedback was obtained and most of them gave excellent feedback.

HEALTH TALK :


On the Newborn week celebration, a public awareness programme was conducted by the Department Of Child Health Nursing, KGNC in a form of health talk to create awareness on Care of Preterm and Low birth weight Babies, in Post Natal Ward on 19.11.2018 by Mrs Bindu Arokia Amali.J, M.Sc Nursing II yr co-ordinate by Mrs Sherin Nithya S, Asst Professor. Nearly 25 beneficiaries participated in the presentation and gained adequate knowledge on Care of Preterm and Low birth weight Babies. The programme came to a conclusion with questions for which clarification was made. On spot, feedback was obtained from the participants. The postnatal mothers participated actively in the session. In the end, participants were rewarded with gifts.

SHORT FILM ON QUALITY OF NEWBORN CARE (KARUVARAINKANAVU) :


The department of child health nursing presented a short film on Quality of Newborn care on 20.11.2018 to create awareness among postnatal mothers at the postnatal ward, MGMCRI. The short film was directed and performed by B.Sc Nursing III year students, and coordinated by Mrs Sudha K S. It was focused on Care of Newborn, Breast Feeding and its advantages, Thermoregulation, Immunization and Hygiene practices. 20 postnatal mothers in the postnatal ward were been benefited. At the end of the session, feedback was obtained and most of them gave excellent feedback.

QUIZ COMPETITION :


In commemoration of Newborn week Celebration, Department of Child Health Nursing KGNC, organized a Quiz programme for postnatal mothers in the postnatal ward on 22.11.2018, coordinated by Mrs.Saranya S. The core concept to promote, protect and support Newborn care was highly emphasized. The mothers were divided into four groups and each group has 3 mothers as participants. All 3 rounds were highly informative and interactive, mothers participated enthusiastically. The myths related to Newborn Care were removed, and they gained adequate knowledge. The winner group was awarded gifts. The total beneficiaries including participants and onlookers were 32. 94% of the beneficiaries gave positive feedback that they gained adequate knowledge.
