SC/ST CELL
Objectives
SC/ST Cell has been constituted in the Institute to resolve all the affairs and problems related to the SC/ST students of the institute.
- To function as a Grievance Redressal Cell for the grievances of SC/ST students of the college and render them necessary help in solving their problems.
- To collect reports and information regarding the GOI orders on the various aspects of education, training for SC/ST students and circulate to the students for awareness.
- To circulate State Government and University Grants Commission’s decisions.
- To support and empower them with equal rights.
- To help them to convey their issues confidentially and get solved.
Functions
Following functions are carried out in SC/ST Cell
- All affairs related to SC/ST.
- All affairs related to SC/ST reservation implemented in the Institute according to Indian Government Policy.
- Registering the complaints in writing from SC/ST students and address it to concerned department, person, section for its peaceful resolution.
- Every year students are nominated for SC/ST students Cell at Institute level.
- To work as the Grievances Redressal Cell for SC/ST students and address their problems.
- Quarterly report from SC/ST cell will be sent to vice- chancellor, SBV on first week of every quarter.
Student members’ role
The Coordinator, on behalf of the Cell organizes periodical meeting with SC/ST students to help them to understand the facilities available in the university campus. Interactive sessions and informal meetings with students are also conducted to help them deal with personal, social and academic problems.

- SC/ST committee members list with their contact numbers/email ID should be recorded
- A register should be opened for registering the complaints.
Innovative and best practice
- Keeping complaint box in the college by SC/ST cell to help students point out their complaints, problems and suggestions.
- We support and motivate the students to utilize the scholarship from Adi-Dravidar Welfare Department of Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu and Ambedkar scheme, Puducherry.
- Every year about 86 to 90 students are benefitted by the scholarship.
Future plans
To extend the services of SC/ST cell to OBC, minority and disabled students as an equal opportunity cell under UGC 12th plan on a continual basis and empower them to participate fully in the academic, intellectual, social and cultural life of university on equal basis.
