MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) AGREEMENT REACHED BETWEEN SRI BALAJI VIDYAPEETH DEEMED TO BE A UNIVERSITY WITH MADRAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (MALA)

 Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University signed an MoU with Madras Library Association (MALA) – Chennai dated 31st day of January 2020 for two years from the year 2020 and 2021 and two years extension from 01.02.2022 to 31.01.2024 currently renewed from 01.02.2024 to 31.01.2026 the Agreement may be renewed upon its expiry, with the agreement of both partners. The main objective of the agreement is to create general awareness, especially among medical students and research scholars on the benefit of using books and library resources.

Every year our Bapuji Central Library conducts an orientation program for newly joined batches of SBV Libraries of our on-campus and off-campus library user community.

Orientation and Training program on ProQuest Databases

Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University organized a one-day orientation and Training Programme on How to use ProQuest Databases for the benefit of faculty, Research Scholars, and Students on 23.10.2019 between 2.30 pm to 4 pm at Moulana Abul Kalam Azad seminar hall, Ground floor of the Bapuji central library.

Dr. V.R. Rajan, Chief Librarian, SBV, Pondicherry welcomed the Gathering and introduced Mr. Lakshmikanth, A. Manager (South) ProQuest Databases firms.

The ProQuest Manager explained and highlighted some important points one by one namely How to use ProQuest Databases, Best Practices of searches, Best Practices of Research Citations/References, my Research Tools, and Thesaurus. More than 50 Participants from our faculty, Researchers, and students from MGMCRI, Dental, and Nursing participated.

Finally, the Training Programme came to an end with a Vote of thanks by Dr. K. Thandavamoorthy, Deputy Librarian, MGMCRI, SBV, Pondicherry

LIBRARY EXTENSION  ACTIVITIES

        Bapuji Central Library has organized three National workshops and Prof.Dr.S.R. Ranaganathan’s birthday in association with the Madras Library Association (MALA, Chennai) for the benefit of the faculty, Librarians, Students, and Researchers during the years 2018 & 2019 as given detailed below:

• • One-day National workshop on Dspace and WordPress: A Comprehensive\ Hands-on Training held at Digital Library, Bapuji Central Library, SBV, Pondicherry dated 19th May 2018
  • One-day National Workshop on Developing Institutional Repository for Preserving and Archiving Digital Collection held at Digital Library, Central Library, SBV, Pondicherry dated 05.01.2019
  • S.R. Ranganathan’s 127th Birthday celebration cum workshop on “Plagiarism check and use of Bibliographic Software”: A Comprehensive Hands-on Training: Five Credit Points awarded by Digital Library, Bapuji Central Library, SBV campus, Pondicherry on 9th August 2019.
  • S.R. Ranganathan’s 128th Birth Anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan and Librarian Day through online webinar via YouTube meeting dated 09.08.2020.Prof.Monorama Srinath, Former Head of the Department, at the University of Madras, delivered the keynote address on that occasion. Prof. S. Parthasarathy, Former Director, of INSDOC, and Dr. Siva Chidambaram, Librarian, NIT, Trichy respectively delivered the special address
  • S.R.Ranaganathan’s 129th Birth Anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan and Librarian Day through online webinar via Zoom meeting dated 09.08.2021. Prof. Ramesh Babu, Former Head of the Department, at the University of Madras, delivered the keynote address on that occasion. Dr. M. Natarajan, Ex Scientist in charge, INSDOC delivered the special address.
• Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s 130th Birthday Celebration cum Workshop on “How to Customize Koha-Integrated Library Management System”. Hands-on Training held at Digital Library, Bapuji Central Library, SBV, Pondicherry dated 09.08.2022. In Association with MADRAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (MALA), Chennai. Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SBV & Chairperson SBV Integrated Library Committee delivered, inaugurated the National Workshop & Release of QR Code Facilities for SBV Libraries E-Resources and delivered the Commemorative Address. Dr. M. Vijayakumar University Librarian, Pondicherry University, has consented to be the Guest of Honour and delivered the address of the gathering sketched a brief history of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan.
• Bapuji Central Library SBV Deemed to be University, Pondicherry in Association with Madras Library Association organized 2nd. IHRC 2023 International workshop on “Developing Dynamic Library Web Portal” workshop on Dated on 21.01.2023. Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SBV & Chairperson SBV Integrated Library Committee delivered and inaugurated the International Workshop He has explained and highlighted the progress. Prof. C. P. Ganesh Babu Vice Principal (Curriculum) & Vice Chairperson of SBV Integrated Library Committee delivered the address of the gathering and sketched a brief history of Bapuji Central Library and our other constituent unit’s Library’s growth and Developments.

Ranganathan’s 131st Birthday Celebration cum One-day National workshop on “Koha and Beyond Empowering Librarians with Artificial Intelligence( AI) Tools for Enhanced efficiency” Dated on 09.08.2023.  Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas  Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SBV delivered, inaugurated the National Workshop & Three-day SBV Book Fair and delivered the Commemorative Address. Prof.R.Sevukan Department of Library and Information Science,  Pondicherry University, the Guest of Honour and delivered the keynote address. Mr. T.C.Thirunavukkarasu, Librarian and Information Assistant, Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram, Chennai, and Ms.Nadhiya I.T. Analyst, Information Resource Centre, TATA Consultancy Services Ltd. Both the resource persons provided the hands-on training.

• BOOK FAIR

Bapuji Central Library conducted a three-day SBV BOOK FAIR from 07.08.2023 to 09.08.2023. Venue: MGMCRI college block the same one inaugurated by .  Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas   Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SBV.
