 
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, IEC activity was planned by our Department to be done in areas around our institution to increase the level of awareness and to promote preventive measures to break the transmission chain of COVID19. The Government circular regarding the same, allotted us the semi-urban and rural area of Kariklampakkam, Thavalakuppam and Abishekapakkam, Ariyankuppam to carry out IEC activity. Under the guidance of Mr. Joseph (Deputy Registrar) of the institution, Dr. Abhijit V Boratne (Prof. & HOD Dept. of Community Medicine) the logistics, fund, and scheduling were worked up in the last week of March. Mr. Parthasarathy (MSW, Dept. of Community Medicine) was given the task of carrying out this IEC activity in the field.
It was a challenging task to arrange for such activity during the lockdown, the IEC was delivered to the general public as pre-recorded audio media through speakers installed in a tempo traveler. The awareness audio media was written by Mr. Shanmugam, (Health educator Dept. of Community Medicine) recorded by Dr. Mageshwari (1st year PG, Dept. of Community Medicine). The IEC activities were scheduled from 01.04.2020 to 11.04.2020.
We have successfully conducted the IEC activity in the allotted places on behalf of the Department of Community Medicine, MGMCRI. In the period of lockdown, the Coronavirus disease awareness was highly beneficial to the general public.
