Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology organized a faculty development programme on “Good clinical laboratory practice” on 24thJan 2020. A total of 30 delegates from medical colleges in and around Puducherry participated in the programme.
Dr. Joshy M. Easow, Professor& Head of Microbiology, welcomed the gathering with an overview of the FDP and briefed about the resource persons and their fields of expertise in the topics.
The resource persons include Dr. R. Ramesh, Professor, Dept. Of Biochemistry, JIPMER, Dr. Narasimhan R, Emeritus Professor of Pathology, MGMCRI, Pondicherry, Dr. Rahul Dhodapkar, Additional Professor of Microbiology, JIPMER, Pondicherry, Dr. Ramachandra V Bhat, Professor and Head, Dept. of Pathology, IGMCRI, Pondicherry.The programme was organized mainly to impart the knowledge about of the standards expected of clinical laboratories in the analysis of samples and to provide a framework for laboratory personnel regarding facilities, systems and procedures to ensure the reliability, quality and integrity of the work and these results to satisfy the GCP expectations in their organisations/workplace.
The participants of the CME were enlightened about the Root Cause Analysis, CAPA and artefactual changes impeding laboratory analysisby Dr.R.Ramesh, knowledge about the significance of Risk Assessment in laboratory and its consequences Dr. Narasimhan R with his vast experiences, the third session was by Dr. Rahul Dhodapkar on Total Quality Management in a nutshell andfinally Ethical Issues to be dealt in by the lab personnel was elaborated by Dr. Ramachandra V Bhat. The event was organised by Dr. Joshy M Easow, Dr Umadevi and Dr Reeta R as coordinators for the FDP on Good clinical laboratory practices.
