To emphasize the importance of Swachhata Hi Seva – 2018 and to bring about a general awareness among students, the Fine Arts Club organised an Intra-college Wealth out of waste Competition with the theme “ SHOW THE WORLD HOW USEFUL WASTES CAN BE” on 26.09.2018 (Tuesday) from 4 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. in Community medicine laboratory, MGMCRI.
There were around 80 students participating as 40 teams in total.
Volunteers from Batch of 2015, ECO-CLUB and NSS was sent in groups under the guidance of Dr Satvinder Singh Bakshi, Assistant. Professor ., Dept of ENT to collect waste materials from every department in the hospital and college premises including Operation theatres, blood banks, student hostels and administrative blocks.
The students were asked to bring their own required materials in addition to the waste materials collected by us. They were given a time of 1 hour and 30 minutes to create a useful wealth out of the waste materials they had.
Judging was based on the participants’ creativity and the usefulness of the wealth that they created.
Two judges were invited – 1) Dr Rajkumar Patil, A.P., Dept. of Community Medicine and 2) Dr Vishnu Kumar, A.P., Dept. of ENT.
On the basis of scoring by the two judges, 7 teams were chosen as winners

All the participants were given Participation Certificates and the winners were given trophy and certificate in the Swachh Bharat program presided by Prof.S.C.PARIJA, VICE CHANCELLOR, BV UNIVERSITY Prof.N.ANANTHAKRISHNAN, Dean – Research and Allied Health Sciences, MGMCRI, Prof.M.RAVISHANKAR, DEAN, MGMCRI, Prof.PARTHA NANDI – VICE PRINCIPAL STUDENTS, MGMC&RI and other dignitaries, that was conducted at 4pm on the same day in Lecture hall 1, MGMCRI. All the participants were given Certificate of Participation. The overall event was co-ordinated by the fine arts club.
