A health education programme was organized by the Department of Community Medicine at Government primary school, Kattukuppam on 18thFebrurary 2021. The organizing committee was Dr.Senkadhirdasan. D (Senior Resident) and Dr.Lalithamabigai. C (Senior Resident) with the help of Medical Social Workers Mr.Buhari and Mr.Chandrasekar along with interns. The health awareness session was on “Balanced diet, Personal hygiene and Covid-19 precautions” for around 75 school children. Poster and charts were displayed for the children on personal hygiene, covid-19 precautions, and a balanced diet. Covid-19 precautions such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing/ sanitizing hands were emphasized. It was an interactive session where the steps of handwashing were demonstrated by the faculty to the students and a few children were called upon for doing the handwashing steps after the demonstration. At the end of the session, the students were asked to summarize the points discussed. Questions were asked among the children from the health education session and those who answered correctly were rewarded with chocolates. The students were also encouraged to clarify their queries with the faculty regarding the topic after the session.
