The Department of Psychiatry commemorated the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking combined with the and the First Anniversary of the Substance Use Disorders Clinic in the department seminar room. Dr S Karthick (Assistant Professor, Psychiatry), Mr Rajkumar (Clinical Psychologist), and Mrs Abirami (Psychiatric Social Worker) delivered Awareness talks on the Ill effects of Drug abuse, Identification, and Treatment. Patients recovering from substance use disorders and their caregivers attended the programme, participated in an interactive session, and patients who had successfully abstained from alcohol were given gifts as a token of appreciation towards their efforts.
Dr. Avudaiappan, Assistant Professor, Mr. Rajkumar M, Psychologist, Ms. Ektha Jain, Psychologist and Ms. Abirami, Social Worker, Department of Psychiatry, MGMCRI, conducted a program for the significant others of ADS patients titled “Roles and Responsibilities of Significant others of patients with Alcohol Dependence syndrome” to explain their roles and responsibilities in supporting treatment and prevention, on 29-07-2017. Similar program was conducted in Anganwadi, Aranganoor village, near Seliamedu on 27-06-2018.
