Med Bee ( Medical spell bee contest)

The scientific club of the Student Council, MGMCRI, conducted a medical spell bee contest on May 13, 2022. The contest was open for all undergraduate and postgraduate students. The event was conducted in lecture hall 2 in the college block from 4.30pm to 6.00 pm on 13th May, 2022. The event was presided by our Vice Principal ( Student affairs ) Dr. Padmavathi Shanmuganathan. We had two eminent judges, Dr.Prabavathy, Assistant Professor in the department of Pathology and Dr.Uma Narayanamurthy, Assistant Professor in the department of Pharmacology.
We had fifteen participants in total. We conducted three rounds. We prepared approximately 1800 words with varying difficulty. In round one, Each participant was given one minute. They are supposed to spell out as many words as they can. They could ask the pronouncer to repeat the words. They were given two points for every correctly spelled word. There was no negative marking for the wrongly spelled words. In this round, among the fifteen participants, ten participants qualified to the second round.
In round two, Each participant was given one minute. They are supposed to spell out as many words as they can. They could ask the pronouncer to repeat only once. There was no negative marking for wrongly spelled words. They were given 5 points for every correctly spelled word. At the end of round two, five participants qualified for the third and the final round.

In round three, Each participant was given 45 seconds. The participants should not ask the pronouncer to repeat the words. One point was reduced for every wrongly spelled word. 10 words were given for every correctly spelled word. At the end of three rounds, Ms. Swastika from 2020 batch secured third place, Mr. Aravindhan from the 2016 batch secured second place and Ms.Ramya from 2019 batch secured the first place . The winners were awarded cash prizes
