The contemporary topic in Hematology evoked an instantaneous response as the orator emphasized the need of Evidence Based Quality Research in alleviating the misery of those afflicted with acute myeloid leukemia and thalassemia. Adding further he stressed upon the significance of empathy and sensitivity to the needs of cancer patients especially with a thrust being on the provision for cost effective indigenously developed and reliable diagnostic and
therapeutic modalities. Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas delivered the Vice Chancellor’s address, while Dr. Prashanth Rajagopalan, Vice Chairman, SBV and Director of MGM Healthcare, Chennai lauded the efforts of Prof. Vikram Mathews and a passionate plea to the medical professionals of tomorrow to emulate the likes of Prof. Vikram Mathews.
