PEDAL FOR PROGRESS: YOUTH RALLY FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND JUSTICE

Promoting “PEDAL FOR PROGRESS: YOUTH RALLY FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND JUSTICE” Bicycle Rally On 25th August 2024, an excellent idea implemented by Dr. Joe David Anton, Organizing Secretary, Associate Professor guided by Prof.(Dr.) Satish Kumar, Head of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry.
This bicycle rally event brought the powerful display of unity and determination, to promote this Rally (Cycling), among the participants (MBBS Students of MGMCRI). With the objective of raising awareness about the Sustainability and Justice, among the younger generation, the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology organized a rally that showcased the spirit and commitment of student community towards the public. With the blessings of Chancellor Shri M.K. Rajagopalan Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Puducherry the cycle rally commenced at 07:00am with the flag start by Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Puducherry. The Megaevent was accompanied by Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Head, Dr. Joe David Anton, Associate Professor of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Prof.(Dr.) Kannan R, Vice Principal (Students Affairs) of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry. Police Officials Mr. Shanmugavel (Law and Order), Kirumampakkam Police station, Puducherry and Mr. Keshav Rao and Mr.  Karthickesan from Kirumampakkam Traffic Police station, Puducherry were invited as Guests for the cycle rally.
The cycle rally route started from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute premises to Thavalakuppam Junction (via Kirumampakkam, AVMC, Reddichavady, Periyakattupalayam and Madalapattu) and returned to the college premises. The event was organized in collaboration with local authorities, Medico-Legal Association of Puducherry with the dedicated efforts of administration of MGMCRI and faculties of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology and Student Executive Members: Mr.Srivadhanam, Mr. Sivaram, Mr. Mouleeshwaran, Mr. Srivathsan, Mr. Surendarakumar, Mr. Madhan Raj, Mr. Muthuparamaguru, Mr. Vignesh, Mr. Logeshwar, Mr. Karpagadhasan of 2021batch MBBS, MGMCRI. The rally route was carefully planned to cover several important locations within the local community, ensuring maximum visibility and impact. The procession made its way through the main area, parks and public spaces, effectively engaging with a diverse range of community members.
Participants demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and commitment. The impact of the rally extended beyond the event itself. The rally and the associated activities served as a platform to foster a sense of responsibility, empathy, and resilience within participants and the community. By participating actively in the event, they reflected upon the theme of the event and their dedication towards the Safety, Well-being and Healthcare of the community. This initiative aligns the core values of creating socially conscious individuals.This cycle rally saw a significant turnout of participants from the Institution, all actively participated in spreading the message “PEDAL FOR PROGRESS: YOUTH RALLY FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND JUSTICE”.
