25 | ProfessorDr. A R SrinivasanRegistrar,SBVProfile SummaryPROF. A.R.SRINIVASAN, M.Sc., Ph.D., FIMSA Prof. A.R.Srinivasan hails from Vellore, Tamilnadu. He completed his postgraduation studies in Medical Biochemistry from the reputed Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore and was placed FIRST IN THE UNIVERSITY ( Madras University- Year1987). Upon receiving the UGC and CSIR Research Fellowships he completed his Ph.D. from Mysore University ( Year 2000). A portion of his doctoral work was converted into a process patent that pertains to a therapeutic modality for phenylketonuria ( Details available on the patent with patent no. IN 192845 in CSIR Patent database and European patent search database. Dr.Srinivasan served his alma mater, namely CMC Vellore, from Year 1987-1991 during which he was entrusted with the task of taking care of the curriculum for the students of M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry. Prof. A.R.Srinivasan has been teaching the Undergraduate students of Medicine ever since the inception of the MBBS program at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute in the Year 2001. Besides, he is also a PG teacher and Research Guide. Prof. Srinivasan has been an examiner at prestigious medical colleges including CMC Vellore and JIPMER, Pondicherry , besides being an examiner for UG, PG and Ph.D. programs at Madras University, Mysore University, The TN DR.MGR Medical University and Bharathiar University. Presently Dr.Srinivasan is holding the post of REGISTRAR, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth ( since April 2013). A life member of Association of Clinical Biochemists India (ACBI) and a Fellow of the International Medical Sciences Academy( FIMSA), Dr.Srinivasan has over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals, besides contributing to Chapters in books. Dr. Vickneshwaran Vinayagam on completion of Masters in Medical Biochemistry from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), pursued his Ph.D. on “Molecular basis of Placental oxidative stress and vascular dysfunction in Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy among a South Indian population” under the guidance of Prof Dr. Zachariah Bobby, at JIPMER, Puducherry. He enjoys teaching and research. Research Focus: Dr. Vickneshwaran Vinayagam is enthusiastic in establishing the Placental research at MGMCRI. Dr. Vickneshwaran’s research focus on the maternal and fetal health. Subtle changes in the diversity and functionality of the placental development are crucial in long term complications of the neonates. He has startling evidences in the alterations of metabolic changes in placenta of pregnant women with complications. He is particularly interested in measuring and understanding this complex interaction between placental development and fetal health. He is also interested in assessing the role of nutrition and oxidative stress in health and disease. Teaching focus: Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Nutrition, Placental biology, maternal and fetal health, and life style disorders. |
