Dr.S.Sumathi, an alumni of Madras Medical College (1993), joined MGMCRI on 01^st August 2018 as Professor & Head of Biochemistry. With a total teaching experience of more than 25 years and 10 yrs for UG and PG respectively, she plays a key role in framing curriculum and ensuring proper functioning of academic activities of all the courses handled in the  Department that includes MBBS, MD Biochemistry, BDS and Allied health courses.She is a Fellow of the International Medical Sciences Academy since 2007 and completed NABL ISO15189:2012 Lab Auditor’s course on 2013. Holds Life member of IMA & AMBI. She has been as an External Examiner for UG, PG and Ph.Ds & University Exam Paper setter at prestigious Universities. 
Her recognition includes two copyrights
(1) Reg.no. L-87127/2019, “Innovative post graduate diploma in good clinical laboratory practice syllabus to suit choice based credit system”,
(2)  Reg.no. L-87125/2019, “Framing of innovative M.Sc MLT in clinical chemistry syllabus to suit choice based credit system.
Her research interests include metabolic syndrome, diabetes, psoriasis, vitamins, minerals and thyroid disorders.

PROF. A.R.SRINIVASAN, M.Sc., Ph.D., FIMSA
Prof. A.R.Srinivasan hails from Vellore, Tamilnadu. He completed his postgraduation studies in Medical Biochemistry from the reputed Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore and was placed FIRST IN THE UNIVERSITY ( Madras University- Year1987). Upon receiving the UGC and CSIR Research Fellowships he completed his Ph.D. from Mysore University ( Year 2000). A portion of his doctoral work was converted into a process patent that pertains to a therapeutic modality for phenylketonuria ( Details available  on the patent with patent no. IN 192845 in CSIR Patent database and European patent search database.
Dr.Srinivasan served his alma mater, namely CMC Vellore, from Year 1987-1991 during which he was entrusted with the task of taking care of the curriculum for the students of M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry.
Prof. A.R.Srinivasan has been teaching the Undergraduate students of Medicine ever since the inception of the MBBS program at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute in the Year 2001. Besides, he is also a PG teacher and Research Guide.
Prof. Srinivasan has been an examiner at prestigious medical colleges including CMC Vellore and JIPMER, Pondicherry , besides being an examiner for UG, PG and Ph.D. programs at Madras University, Mysore University, The TN DR.MGR Medical University and Bharathiar University.
Presently Dr.Srinivasan is holding the post of REGISTRAR, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth ( since April 2013).
A life member of Association of Clinical Biochemists India (ACBI) and a Fellow of the International Medical Sciences Academy( FIMSA), Dr.Srinivasan has over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals, besides contributing to Chapters in books.
Known as Dr.Vellore A.R.Srinivasan in the Classical Music circle, Dr.Srinivasan is a Carnatic Classical, vocalist, percussionist and composer, having been featured in several TV Channels including CNN-IBN ( News 18) ARS CV

I completed my MBBS in the year 1991 at Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore.  I did private practice for 21 years at Trichy. In 2005 I did PG Dip. HSC (Diabetology) at Annamalai University, Chidambaram. I completed MD. Biochemistry at Sri Venkateshwara Medical College Hospital, Ariyur, Puducherry in 2016. 

   I worked as an Assistant professor of Biochemistry at Slims for 3 years.  I joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at MGMCH & RI on 04.09.2019. I was promoted as Associate Professor from 10.09.2020.
My areas of interest are Metabolic Syndrome, ESRD, Thyroid dysfunction, and the effect of vitamins on BP.

Dr. Vickneshwaran Vinayagam on completion of Masters in Medical Biochemistry from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), pursued his Ph.D. on “Molecular basis of Placental oxidative stress and vascular dysfunction in Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy among a South Indian population” under the guidance of Prof Dr. Zachariah Bobby, at JIPMER, Puducherry.  He enjoys teaching and research.

Research Focus: Dr. Vickneshwaran Vinayagam is enthusiastic in establishing the Placental research at MGMCRI. Dr. Vickneshwaran’s research focus on the maternal and fetal health. Subtle changes in the diversity and functionality of the placental development are crucial in long term complications of the neonates. He has startling evidences in the alterations of metabolic changes in placenta of pregnant women with complications. He is particularly interested in measuring and understanding this complex interaction between placental development and fetal health. He is also interested in assessing the role of nutrition and oxidative stress in health and disease. 

Teaching focus: Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Nutrition, Placental biology, maternal and fetal health, and life style disorders.

I did my M.Sc., Medical Biochemistry in MGMCRI in 2012. My previuos expericence are, I worked in the same institute as tutor from 2014-2017.I worked as Assistant Professor in SAHS in AVMC campus for 4 months. Previously i worked as Tutor in Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences for past 9 months. I did my online courses in RNA biology for 3 months. Now am doing online courses in MBA (HR) in Dr. MGR university.

Dr. Jayanthi. R, Assistant Professor completed her undergraduation studies in Biochemistry and placed University rank holder (Madras University – 2001) and postgraduation studies in Medical Biochemistry from the reputed Institute of Basic Medical Science (IBMS), Madras University-2004 followed by M.Phil from Annamalai University 2007. She joined as a faculty at MGMCRI in the year of 2009, started handling undergraduate courses MBBS, BDS, B.Sc & Post basic B.Sc Nursing along with that postgraduate courses M.D (Biochemistry), M.Sc Medical biochemistry, M.Sc MLT.  She registered her Ph.D (Part time-Internal) in this well esteemed university (SBV) in the area of Diabetes and thyroid disorders. On completion of her research work she was promoted as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry (2019).

She was honoured as a guide for Ph.D. students and moreover she has fourteen years of teaching and research experience as well as course co-ordinator for Nursing and Allied health sciences.

Dr. Jayanthi. R was awarded for her selfless and dedicated service towards academic progress of the students needing additional curricular support (SNACS) and also she was appreciated for her paper publications by SBV at MGMCRI (2019)

She has been an examiner at prestigious medical colleges including Annamalai University and Pondicherry Univeristy. She has been invited as a reviewer for the International Journal of creative research thoughts (IJCRT).

Her research area is on diabesity and presently working on polymorphism of NADPH and Heme Oxygenase among obese type 2 diabetic subjects (Intramural funded project by SBV) Dr. Jayanthi. R has over 16 publications in peer reviewed journals.

Graduated from Government Medical college, Bellary and post graduation from MGMCRI, SBV.  Now teaching both UG and PG students. Trained in “Quality Management System and Internal Audit In Medical Labs and Medical education tecnology. Am a good team worker with analytical abilities and an aptitude to acquire new knowledge. My areas of  interest in research are biomarkers of preeclampsia and asthma.
