Services

  • Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is involved in imparting Medico-Legal knowledge to the Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
  • Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Runs Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit where students are posted in causality in batch wise thereby exposing students to ethical and legal issues associated with clinical practice.
  • The department has a tie-up with the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, India Gandhi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (IGMCRI), Pondicherry.
  • Yearly Undergraduate students are taken to IGMCRI in batch-wise and making them to witness Post-Mortem Examination (PME).
  • Undergraduate students are taken to various courts (Civil and Criminal) to witness court room procedure.
  • Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is in tie up with the clinical department and also teaches them to handle Medico-Legal issues whenever negligence arises.
  • The department is regularly conducting academic activities like poster presentation for Undergraduate students, CMEs, Guest Lectures etc.
  • Undergraduate students are engaged to participate in various intercollegiate quiz competitions.
  • Postgraduate students are given hands-on training in Post-Mortem Examination (PME).
  • The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is involved in training of the MBBS students in their 2nd and 3rd year. They are posted and trained in Casualty and Hospital in handling the Medico-Legal work and to improve their communication skills in handling the patients, their relatives and police officials.
  • Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology helps medical officers in times of their need to solve Medico-Legal problems.
  • Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology has a well-equipped mortuary with cold storage facility catering to the needs of public.
  • Helps in receiving and certifying a donated body fit for Anatomy department for Academic purposes.
  • Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is also involved in training of the Dental students in Forensic Medicine relevant to their curriculum.
