Undergraduate Training
MBBS
Faculty of Microbiology department is involved in theory and practical lessons for MBBS students. Theoretical classes are taken in the form of didactic lecture, small group teaching, and integrated teaching classes. Apart from theoretical knowledge, microbiology skills and procedures in the laboratory are also taught to them during their practical classes. MBBS II year students have regular laboratory posting. All students are mentored by faculty members who offer additional academic and emotional support.
BDS, Nursing, BSc MLT/AHS
Undergraduate students of dental, nursing and AHS specialities are taught as per the guidelines set by the respective regulating bodies, i.e. DCI, INC and SBV.
Postgraduate Training
MD Microbiology
The main aim of this course is to train students of Medicine in the field of Medical Microbiology. Theoretical and practical training is imparted to the candidates in subspecialties viz., Bacteriology, Virology, Parasitology, Immunology, and Mycology, so that they can get involved in good patient care and prevention of infectious diseases in the community. They are introduced to basic research methodology so that they can plan and conduct fundamental and applied research. Postgraduate students encouraged to carry out research and make conference presentations and publications. They have also imparted training in teaching methods in the subject which may enable them to take up teaching assignments in medical colleges/institutes.
MSc Medical Microbiology
M.Sc Medical Microbiology (Faculty of medicine) is a 3 years full-time course. This syllabus is framed after perusal of the syllabi of the same course offered by various Central and State Medical Universities. The objective of this course is to establish a good knowledge of Bacteriology, Virology, Parasitology, Mycology, and Immunology and be trained in diagnostic work and to carry out fundamental or applied research in various branches of Microbiology.
PhD (Microbiology)
The Department provides excellent infrastructure to support research. PhD candidates are being guided and trained under eminent and senior faculty members.
