OPHTHALMOLOGY

Services

Consultation

Refraction, anterior and posterior segment evaluation and management, systemic diseases causing ocular manifestations, medication, relevant investigations, review / timely hospital admission, cross consultation with other specialities when a multidisciplinary approach is required for management. Emergency services are available 24×7.

Speciality clinics

Expert consultation, counselling, treatment and follow up of patients in the sub-specialities like Glaucoma, Cornea, Retina, Neuro-ophthalmology, Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmology.

Procedures

Procedures for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes include

  • Incision and curettage, incision and drainage, small conjunctival mass excisions, tarsorrhaphy, foreign body removal, suture removal etc.

Camp services

Camp services are managed by experienced camp officers who organise biweekly camps in rural and difficult to reach areas of Cuddalore & Villupuram districts (DBCS & general camps). Free ophthalmic consultation is given for all these cases and most of the surgical intervention is either provided free of cost or at substantially discounted rates to patients from such camps.

School screening

 It is done on a routine basis to far-flung areas to screen school children and efforts are made to provide free spectacles for refractive error patients.

Department provides special clinics like glaucoma clinics, retina clinics, neuro-ophthalmology clinics, cornea clinics, pediatric and strabismus clinics.
