Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) has proven its commitment to biomedical research by facilitating drug discovery and regulatory services for industrial products to including pre-clinical R & D pharm therapeutics, biotech, natural products, agrochemical and chemical industries. SBV has undertaken a multi-crore joint undertaking with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India to establish a new small Animal Research Facility for Preclinical Studies and Services named as “Mahatma Gandhi Medical Preclinical Research Centre” (MGMPRC), located inside SBV Campus, Pillayarkuppam, Puducherry, India.

MGMPRC is housed in a new, 31,000 square feet state-of-the-art facility specifically designed for specification to enable GLP and AAALAC international guidelines for humane care and use of small animal species involved in studies.MGMPRC provides dedicated areas for quarantine, procedure, necropsy, clinical chemistry, animal imaging, and histopathology facilities with advanced and sophisticated equipment.

MGMPRC is established as a center of excellence complying with OECD GLP regulatory guidelines for toxicology and safety assessment, and exploratory pharmacology offering services in India and across the globe. MGMPRC also, provides medium to high skill development courses for qualified low-skilled technical manpower enabling them for better employment opportunities in this region of the country.
