10 th International Day of Yoga

       On June 22 nd , 2024, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute (SSSMCRI) in Collaboration with Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University & National Medicos Organisation (NMO) Tamilnadu jointly organized 10 th international day of yoga celebrated with great enthusiasm. For the warm wishes of Shri.M.K.Rajagopalan, Honorable Chancellor of SBV and Smt.Gowri Rajagopalan, Honorable Chairperson Madam of SBV the event attended by more than 250 MBBS Students and faculty from our SSSMCRI, all of whom demonstrated a keen interest in this ancient practice. The objective of this year’s celebration, themed “Yoga for Self and Society” was to connect with a larger global community and promote the widespread adoption of yoga in all over the world.

       The event commenced with a comprehensive introduction and welcome address was delivered by Dr .L. Manivannan, Director of Physical Education and Yoga for the program. Following that, the Guest of Honor, Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani Director, Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine (ISCM), & Professor of yoga therapy at SBV Pondichery. As well as Yogachemmal Shri Mr.G. Dayanithi, Assistant Professor of School of Yoga Therapy and Yogachemmal Dr. Balaji, Assistant Professor, School of Yoga Therapy for both of them was attend the function to felicitated along with Director of ISCM.

       Dr. Joydep Roychowdhury, Dean of SSSMCRI was given by the presidential address for the International Day of Yoga. Dr. Priyadhersini, Associate Professor of Pathology from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai and women health in charge with their NMO yoga demonstrators was participated. Mr. Madhavan yoga Instructor and Therapist at the Krishnamacaraya Yoga Mandiram Chennai and he conducted the Yoga demonstration program kicked off with warm-up exercises, during which all students actively participated. He guided through various Asanas and Pranayama with simultaneous explanations of their significance. Undoubtedly, it proved to be a successful event.

       The event was executed flawlessly, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Raghav Rajauria, Yoga therapist expressing gratitude to all individuals who contributed to the success of the program. Under the supervision of Dr. L. Manivannan Director of Physical Education and Yoga along with Mr. Raghav Rajauria, Yoga Therapist of SSSMCRI & Mr. Akash, Physical Instructor & Students voluntaries team the
International Yoga Day celebrations reached a triumphant culmination.

       The 10th International Day of Yoga at SSSMCRI was an extraordinary event that brought together Students, faculty members, and yoga enthusiasts. It successfully promoted the practice of yoga its benefits, while also emphasizing its global significance. The yoga day events success can be attributed to the great planning, dynamic participation, and the devotion of the organizing team with all other supportive departments. SSSMCRI commitment to spreading the practice of yoga throughout the medical students was evident, and it’s anticipated that this celebration will inspire more individuals to embrace yoga in their lives.
