CIDRF conducted a credit-based certificate course on “Natural Product Extraction and HPLC Analysis” on 13th -15th December 2019 at SBV. A total of 5 participants have registered for this course from Jeppiar College of Engineering-Chennai, Pondicherry University and students from IGIDS, CIDRF. The course included lectures (Skype, Invited lectures) and hands-on training on all aspects of extraction techniques and Basics of HPLC instrumentation and techniques. The course started on 13th December 2019 with a pre-test followed by Course overview by Dr. Mangaiyarkarasi N. Lectures were delivered by Dr. Prakash Yoganandam from Mother Theresa Post Graduate and Research Institute, Puducherry on “Conventional method for the extractions of phytoconstituents”, Skype lecture given by Dr. Ancuta Nartea from Udine, Italy on “Working principle and applications of HPLC”, “Preparation of buffers” delivered by Dr. Agiesh Kumar B, Deputy Director, CIDRF, Dr. Devasena K, Application specialist from Spinco Pvt Ltd, delivered a lecture and hands-on training in “HPLC” and Dr. Anandaraman from Annamalai University, Chidambaram delivered a talk on “Extraction of active components and its exploitation in medical field”. The practical sessions included Extraction techniques and HPLC analysis. The session was finally concluded with a post test, feedback submission and certificate distribution. The knowledge of the participants in this course was evaluated by pre-test and the average was 6 and for post-test, the average was 9.8. The revenue generated in this certificate course is Rs. 17,500/-. The participants have given a good review about the course.
