An International Conference titled “Digital Innovation in Nursing: Shaping the future of Patient care was held on 13 & 14 August 2024, organized by Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing. The Program was held in hybrid mode with SBV 15 credit hours were awarded.
The inaugural ceremony was commenced at 9:00 am, featuring a welcome address by Prof. A. L. Mahalakshmi Vice Principal, SSSCON followed by the traditional lamp lighting by the dignitaries. Prof. Dr. Helen Shaji J C, Principal, Organizing Chairperson of the conference, unfolded the theme of the conference. Felicitation was given by Prof. Joydeb Roychowdury Dean in – charge, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research institute. Chief Guest address was given by Dr. A. Jayasudha, Professor cum Principal, Apollo College of Nursing, Hyderabad. The Presidential address was delivered by Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (DU), Puducherry. The Conference Souvenir was Released by the dignitaries. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Dr. Sujatha T HOD of Community Health Nursing, SSSCON. Day 1, the first session titled “Mobile Health Applications and wearable Devices” presented by Dr. Helen Shaji J.C, Professor cum Principal, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing, SBV Chennai Campus, Tamil Nadu, India. The second Session titled “Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Data Security” presented by Ms. Vidya Mani, Quality Manager, Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, Chennai, India. The Third Session Titled “Telehealth and Remote Patient Monitoring” Presented by Prof. Dr. Moattar Raza Rizvi, Dean, College of Healthcare Professions, D.I.T University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. The Fourth Session titled “Nursing Informatics and Big Data Analytics” presented by Dr. A. Jayasudha, Professor cum Principal, Apollo College of Nursing, Hyderabad, India. The fifth session titled “Global Health and Digital Nursing Initiatives” Dr. Maria Blesilda Bonto Llaguno RN RM, Assistant Professor, College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Faisal University, Al-Ahsa, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The sixth session titled “Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in Nursing Education and Training” presented by Dr. Thilagavathy Krishnasamy, Assistant Professor, College of Health Sciences, University of Buraimi, Sultanate of Oman. Quick Quiz was conducted after every session and prizes were distributed for the winners.
Day 2, the First Session titled “Patient Engagement and Empowerment through Technology” presented by Dr. Tan Kan Ku, Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist/ Educator/ Trainer/Assessor, Victoria State Government, Australia. The second session titled “Smart Homes and Ambient Assisted Living” presented by Prof. A. L. Mahalakshmi, Vice Principal, Dept. of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing, Tamil Nadu, India. The Third session titled “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Nursing” presented by Dr. Sudharani Banappagoudar, Director IQAC and Professor, College of Nursing, ITM University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. The Fourth Session titled “Start-up ideas in nursing and for innovative ideas in patient care” presented by Dr. Senthil M, Deputy Director, SBV MIPTECH & SBV MGM Bio incubator, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, (Deemed to be University), Puducherry, India. The Fifth Session titled “Patient-Centred Digital Health Solutions” presented by Dr. Mala Thayumanavan Dean and Group Head Nursing Education, Apollo Hospitals Educational Trust, Chennai, India. The sixth session titled “Cybersecurity, Ethical and Legal Considerations in Digital Health” Presented by Dr. V. Joseph Raymond, Assistant Professor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tamil Nadu, India. Quick Quiz was conducted after every session and prizes were distributed for the winners. At last poster competition was held, total 17 online e posters and 13 offline posters were presented and evaluated by Dr. Senthil M and Dr. Mala Thavumanavan. In the valedictory session, the conference report was presented by Organizing Secretary, Prof. A. L. Mahalakshmi. Delegate representatives from the other institutions gave positive feedback about the conference after which the certificates and mementos were distributed. Totally, we had 782 (online & offline) participants attended this international conference and the program concluded by 4.30 pm.
