GUEST LECTURE ON DIGITAL DETOX: THE ROLE OF PSYCHIATRIC NURSES IN

MANAGING TECH ADDICTION

Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing (SSSCON) successfully hosted a guest lecture on Digital Detox: The Role of Psychiatric Nurses in Managing Tech Addiction on March 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. K. Prema, Principal, SSSCON, and coordinated by Mr. Baskaran N., Assistant Professor, and NEU Coordinator, SSSCON.  The session commenced with Tamizh Thai Vazhthu and SBV Anthem, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Kavita Devi, B.Sc. Nursing III Year. Mr. Baskaran N., Assistant Professor of the Mental Health Nursing Department, then provided an insightful overview of the topic, highlighting the increasing concerns surrounding digital addiction and its impact on mental health. The keynote speaker, Dr. Arnel Banaga Salgado, PsyD, (C. psych), EdD, DSc, PGDip, LPT & RN, Assistant Professor at RAK Medical & Health Sciences University, UAE, delivered an engaging lecture on the critical role of psychiatric nurses in managing technology addiction. His presentation covered strategies for digital detox, psychological interventions, and the significance of a balanced approach to technology use. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Ashna, B.Sc. Nursing III
Year, followed by the National Anthem. The event was well-received, fostering awareness among students and faculty about the psychological implications of excessive digital consumption and the proactive role of psychiatric nurses in mitigating its effects.
