GUEST LECTURE ON PAEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY: EMERGING TRENDS AND CHALLENGES

Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing (SSSCON) organized a highly informative guest lecture on “Paediatric Oncology: Emerging Trends and Challenges” on March 24, 2025, at the 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM, Seminar Hall, Second Floor, Central Library, SSSMCRI. The event brought together esteemed dignitaries, faculty, students, and healthcare professionals to discuss recent advancements in pediatric oncology.The event commenced with the Tamizh Thai Vazhthu and SBV Anthem, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Prabu, Head of the Department of Child Health Nursing, SSSCON.Dr. K. Prema, Principal of SSSCON, set the stage with an introductory talk on “Paediatric Oncology: An Overview of Childhood Cancer and Treatment Approaches.” She emphasized the growing need for specialized cancer care and the importance of early detection.The highlight of the event was the expert lecture by Mrs. Jessy Thambiraj, Paediatric Clinical Nurse Coordinator, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia. She provided deep insights into the latest advancements, emerging trends, and challenges in pediatric oncology. Mrs. Thambiraj discussed cutting-edge therapies, personalized treatment approaches, and the role of nurses in improving patient outcomes. Her interactive session engaged attendees in discussions on immunotherapy, precision medicine, and innovative nursing strategies in cancer care. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Baskaran N, NEU Coordinator, SSSCON, acknowledging the contributions of the guest speaker, dignitaries, faculty, students, and organizing committee. The event ended with the National Anthem, marking a successful academic and professional enrichment session.
