Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing in collaboration with the nursing service department of Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day on May 10th, 2024, at Lecture Hall 1, College Block, SSSMCRI. Dr. Helen Shaji JC, our Principal, initiated and guided the celebration. Mrs. Madhurima.D, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Umadevi.T, Associate Professor, coordinated the program. The program began at 11.00 AM. Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas joined us virtually. Respected Dr. Joydeb Roy Chowdhary, Dean, SSSMCRI, graced the occasion. The event started with Tamizh Thai Vazhthu followed by the SBV anthem. A formal welcome address was presented by Prof. A.L. Mahalakshmi, Vice Principal, SSSCON. Dr. Helen Shaji, Principal, unfolded the theme of International Nurses Day: “Our Nurses, Our Future. The Economic Power of Care.” Our Vice Chancellor Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas gave the presidential address through Zoom. Dr. Joydeb Roy Chowdhary, Dean, SSSMCRI, delivered the felicitation address. To foster competitiveness, energy, motivation, and determination, we conducted various competitions for both student nurses and staff nurses from April 29th to May 2nd, 2024. These competitions included junk art, doodle art, hairdressing, vegetable carving, floor decoration (to showcase artistic talents), and essay, elocution, and poem competitions (to showcase literary talents). The winners of the competitions were also awarded prizes on this occasion. In recognition of the tireless efforts of Staff Nurses who care for the patients with dedication, appreciation certificates were presented to Ms. Dhanalakshmi, Ms. Bhagyalakshmi, and Ms. Sabareeswari.I. Ms. Bomme.R was recognized as Best Nurse, SSSMCRI-2024, for her excellence in patient care.
A new and remarkable award for the students, Best Outgoing Student, SSSCON – 2024, was presented to Ms. D. Divyabharathi this year. To encourage our faculty, Best Researcher Award and Best Educator Award were introduced as new categories. Dr. Golda Sahaya Rani
and Dr. Sujatha.T bagged the Best Researcher Award, and Prof. A.L. Mahalakshmi received the Best Educator Award.A formal word of gratitude for the event’s success was delivered by Mrs. Emerald Rajakumari, Nursing Superintendent, SSSMCRI. About 40 staff nurses, 130 students and faculty of SSSCON enjoyed the event.
The program concluded at 12.00 noon with all participants standing proudly and singing the National Anthem.
