LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY 4th BATCH IRIS BATCH – 2023

The Lamp Lighting Ceremony was conducted for the 4th batch of B.Sc. Nursing Students of Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing on 11/01/2023. The aim of the program was to ensure that every student of Iris Batch – 2023 is warmly welcomed and encouraged as they embark on a new journey in Nursing, on the path to becoming a Registered Nurse. On this, the auspicious occasion of the Lamp Lighting ceremony means “Lighting a lamp is a very symbolic act, predominantly of taking the pledge!” It derives that the students are about to enter a new chapter in their life, and that said the world is needlessly supported by the additional hand of providing care to the world. It means the students had made the decision to take their life in a new direction, and it’s now time to resuscitate the Nursing Profession! The light of the lamp is a symbol of hope, peace and prosperity. Best wishes to the aforesaid students for the same!

The program began with the invocation of SBV anthem followed by a welcome address delivered by Vice Principal, Prof. A. L. Mahalakshmi, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing. The Ceremony was inaugurated by the dignitaries lighting the traditional lamp; followed by lighting the lamp by the students led by Senior Faculties. Florence Nightingale Pledge was taken by the students which was dictated by Mrs. Emerald Rajakumari, Nursing Superintendent, SSSMCRI. Dedication Song was sung by 3rd and 4th Year BSc Nursing Students. A short presentation about the Annual Report 2021 – 22 was given by Prof. Helen Shaji J.C. Principal, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing. On behalf of Dean, Prof. Sukumaran Annamalai, Dr. Gokul, Medical Superintendent In – charge, SSSMCRI, Felicitated the first year B. Sc Nursing Students with encouraging words to care for the world. Parents were participated virtually through Zoom. Keynote address virtually was presented by Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija,
Honorable vice chancellor, SBV. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. J. Emy Jancy Rani, Department of Community Health Nursing and Class coordinator of I Year, and the whole program anchoring was handled by Mr. Snowden, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing and Mrs. Abilasha M, Nursing Tutor, Department of Obstetrical and gynecology, continued with the benediction of National Anthem.
