National Conference on Changing Trends in Health Professions Education

A three day National Conference on Health Professions Education was jointly organized by the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Allied Health Sciences as an inter-professional endeavour.

The first day of the Conference dealt with Undergraduate Dental Education attended by more than 100 delegates. The main conference was attended by nearly 200 delegates including top national experts from various States.

The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof Ved Prakash Mishra, Chairman, Academic Committee, Medical Council of India, in the presence of Dr Prashant, representing Chairman, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, and Prof K.R. Sethuraman, Vice-Chancellor, SBV University. The major themes discussed during the conference included Evolution of medical education in India, the need for transformative learning, Inter-professional Education, Competency-Based PG Medical Education, Integrated Teaching at the MBBS, Faculty Development, innovations and best practices in medical education.

The academic feast included five hands-on workshops conducted by national experts, on Change Management, Approach to problem learners, Mentoring and Feedback, Teaching clinical skills in the digital era and Professionalism.  Besides, there were panel discussions and thematic free paper sessions.

The conference is one of the major milestones reached by SBV in its pursuit of excellence in Health Professions Education.

Prof N Ananthakrishnan, Dean, Research & Allied Health Sciences, welcomed the gathering. Prof  B.V. Adkoli, Organising Chairman introduced the Chief Guest and Prof Seetesh Ghose, the Organizing Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.

Dental Conference

Innovative Courses in Health Professions Education

Based on the recommendations of UGC and NAAC, SBV has launched new courses in Health Professions Education on the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under the faculty of Allied Health Sciences. Starting with Certificate Programs, one can pursue one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education (PGDHPE), followed by another year for M. Phil degree ultimately leading to the Doctoral degree (Ph D) in Health Professions education. [https://sbvu.ac.in/ahs/hpe]
